Brief Overview

Diluc is a member of the Starfall Collective hailing from the world of Teyvat in the nation of Mondstadt. He is a member of the self-defense guild and currently the proprieter of Angel's Share bar and inn in Maharra.

Early Life

Diluc was born in Mondstadt in the Ragnvindr clan, a family with long historical roots in the region. Diluc would eventually grow up besides Kaeya Alberich, a boy his father Crepus adopted and who was secretly from the long-dead kingdom of Khaenri'ah.

Diluc grew up to become a Knight of Favonius as a young man; however, on one occasion, a convoy that Diluc was escorting was attacked by a large monster; Diluc and Kaeya's father used the power of a counterfeit Vision--called a Delusion--to fend off the beast. It backfired and left Crepus fatally wounded and in terrible pain. Diluc was forced to end his own father's life out of mercy. Kaeya arrived moments too late, and was unable to help.

Diluc was consumed by grief, and that night Kaeya confessed that he was from Khaenri'ah and placed there in order to undermine Mondstadt. With this betrayal, Diluc and Kaeya crossed blades. That night, Kaeya earned his vision and lost one of his eyes.

Later, a corrupt official of the Knights of Favonius ordered Diluc to cover up the cause of his father's death; this initially caused Diluc to leave the Knights, but his general disdain for how the affair was handled and a pessimistic view of the Knight's bureaucracy kept him away. Although the corrupt official was exiled for being a traitor to the city, he still did not forgive the Knights or lighten his opinion of them.

Diluc inherited the Dawn winery from his father and owned a bar called Angel's Share in town; he also turned to vigilante justice at night, punishing those he deemed the Knights of Favonius were too slow to catch. He used his status as a noble and a business owner to generally hide this part of his life from general society. Eventually, people began to refer to this mysterious vigilante as the Darknight Hero.

Later on he would meet the Traveller and be tangentially involved in their journey, especially in Mondstadt.

System Life

Diluc was and is generally not an open book. He can be difficult to read and it's hard for him to express his emotions. However, given his inclusion in the self-defense guild, he is generally protective of his fellow collective-mates and cares for them despite his chilly exterior.

Since travel to and from Divisus has freely opened up, Diluc became interested in re-starting his tavern and winery business. He was initially disappointed when the Maharran council deemed his project a non-necessity and didn't provide a building for him, but he eventually found a building and renovated it to look similar to his Tavern in Mondstadt, even renaming it Angel's Share. He works the bar most nights and runs an inn along with it. Currently, the only one that works there other than him is Taako, who works part time as his chef. (The days he doesn't work the tavern doesn't offer food.) Diluc has found that running the bar gives him a sense of direction. He is also interested in having his own vineyard, but due to the way Maharra regulates land aquisition, that project has yet to come to fruition.
