Brief Overview
Dan Heng is a Vidyadhara High Elder; originally from the Xianzhou Luofu, he became a member of the star-traveling Astral Express. He is a kind, conscientious, and deliberate person. He prefers to think of his memories as real and happening elswehere.
Early Life
Dan Heng's life began, so to speak, on the Xianzhou Luofu; a massive space ship, part of a fleet of similarly sized ships dedicated to the Aeon (god) Lan. Dan Heng, being a Vidyadhara, was born from a cycle of incarnation, from the body of his previous incarnation, the Vidyadhara High Elder Dan Feng, or Imbibitor Lunae. He was incarnated in the prison of the Luofu, as his previous incarnation had committed a serious crime resulting in him being incarcerated and later forced to incarnate; the process, however, wasn't completed correctly, and Dan Heng was born to the body of an adult, serving out the sentence for his previous incarnation without the memories of Dan Feng.
Dan Heng spent much of his time in the Luofu's prison with books. He was unable to go out and see the ship for himself, so all of his experience with the outside world was gleaned through reading, and whoever decided to interact with him in prison, which was not many people at all. His previous incarnation had won him no favors by defying the will of The Xianzhou Alliance's god and technically aiding its immortal enemy. However, despite serving the sentence for a crime he had no memory of committing, he never felt much like he was connected to his previous incarnation.
Eventually, he would change his appearance in order to feel like he could separate himself from Dan Feng and his past. Shortly thereafter the Luofu allowed Dan Heng to leave prison under exile; he was barely able to see any of the ship before he was told to leave.
Dan Heng ended up hopping from one space station to the next, searching for who he was as an individual. Eventually, he joined the Astral Express under Himeko's invitation. He made friends with March 7th and Stelle, and found his place as himself there. Even though he would eventually go back to the Luofu in order to help his friends from the Astral Express and his banishment would be lifted by Jing Yuan, he would continue to journey with the Express on the path of the Trailblazer.
Divergence from canon
Dan Heng's early life is somewhat shrouded in mystery in canon. As far as he remembered, he was incarnated as an adult because the process was not completed properly.
System Life
Dan Heng had to confront his past when he came to the Collective; there was some confusion as he hadn't gotten all his memories back yet, and the canon hadn't caught up with him. In canon, after his initial transformation into his true form, Dan Heng prefers to present in his old disguised form; however, Dan Heng of Starfall decided that he needed to embrace the fact that he was a descendent of the High Elder line and stop hiding his true form away, and present as Vidyadhara full time. He cut his hair to shoulder length to compromise between his disguised form and his true form.
He is known for being soft-spoken and courteous, if a bit blunt at times. However, he is fiercly protective of the innocent and wants to protect those who can't protect themselves. He helped Caide and Valian escape The Crystalline Nation before their rebellious activity was discovered.
He has tried to kindle a friendship with Jing Yuan, who knew and was close with his previous incarnation.
