Brief Overview
Cyno is a member of the Starfall Collective, originally from Teyvat.
Early Life
Cyno was born in Sumeru on Teyvat as one of the desert people of that nation. His parents were absent and eventually passed away. Regardless, he was able to get accepted into the Akademiya, which was rare for people from the desert. He joined the Darshan (school) of Spantamad, which studied alchemy, ley lines, and the physical characteristics of the elements present in Teyvat. Cyno graduated, joining the order of the Matra, or the people in charge of guarding dangerous or forbidden knowledge from the people of Sumeru.
During school, he met Tighnari, and the two quickly became friends. Both were considered gifted, and Cyno often overlooked some of Tighnari's dubiously legal actions studying the fauna and flora of the forests of Sumeru. The two eventually entered into a semi-platonic relationship after graduating, although they rarely saw each other due to where both ended up being stationed afterwards.
Tighnari eventually gained the title of Mahamatra, the chief Matra in the order. He developed a fearsome reputation, especially after he unlocked latent abilities awakened in him by a spirit that at the time he did not know the identity of, but that turned out to be a former incarnation, the King Deshret, former god of the desert who had passed away hundreds of years prior.
He also became interested in a card game and related franchise, Genius Invokation Trading Card Game, which heavily resembles Yu-Gi-Oh.
Divergence from canon
There is no evidence in canon that Cyno is a reincarnation of King Deshret; nor does the in-game Cyno have canine humanoid ancestors. In our Cyno, this mostly manifests in his hears being slightly longer than normal, and having a very sharp sense of smell.
System Life
Cyno is often unemotional and has a flat affect. However, he has a comedic side and enjoys making puns (completely deadpan).
Cyno is a very emotionally stable presence. He often accompanies Tighnari on his research trips to Vacara and is interested in trading card games of Earth, particularly yu-gi-oh and magic the gathering.
