Alfred is a personified nation from an alternate Earth. He also occasionally uses she/her pronouns and goes by Amelia when gender-shifted. he is a member of the Starfall Haven and believes himself to be a being from another universe.

Personality

Alfred is a ball of energy and a golden retriever of a man. Very loud (and some would say, obnoxious) and quick to assert himself, he is an extrovert's extrovert. Although through the years has improved somewhat in the stubbornness department, Alfred is often convinced he can find the answer that will help everyone. Although he can come off as a little dense, he is actually quite intelligent and interested in scientific topics. But that doesn't mean he doesn't enjoy a good hot dog and zoning out to a baseball game or reality TV every once in a while.

Early Life

Alfred was 'born' in or around 1607 with the founding of Jamestown. Nations are birthed from the land itself. He was cared for by the Lenape people for a few years before being found by English colonizers and taken, and then discovered by the avatar of England himself, who named the boy Alfred Kirkland.

As a colony of England, Alfred was technically under his care, although Arthur (England's human name) was not around very often due to his duties in his homeland and other colonization. Although he tried to make sure Alfred was cared for, due to the fact that Alfred was aging very slowly and Arthur's absence, he was often left alone, and he slowly learned survival skills through trial and error. He also met his 'brother', Then called Matthieu or New France, modern-day Canada. Alfred's early life was marred by trauma as in between dying of starvation or exposure when he was alone and then being revived by his body, he was also, at least once, executed on suspicion of witchcraft in the Puritan colonies. More than once he was on the run for someone discovering his non-human nature despite the very human facade.

Alfred fought in the Revolutionary War against Arthur with the aid of Gilbert Beilschmidt, the personification of Prussia, as well as with a lot of help from the personification of France and to a lesser extent, Spain and the Netherlands.

Alfred fought in every major United States conflict to date in different disciplines, although he particularly favored the Air Force. Being (conditionally) immortal, he also had a tendency to hoard his things, leading to him having more than one house dedicated to storing his stuff.

In 1945, after WWII, he and the other nations involved in the conflict promised each other that they would destroy all evidence of their existence in public and private record. Whereas before they had operated (generally) with their government and with high-level officials knowing of their existence, the nature of modern warfare and the potential for using the personified nations as massively destructive soldiers or worse became so great that it could no longer be ignored. Alfred destroyed all records of himself in all classified records and threatened high-level officials to keep them quiet and not let the next generation of government workers know about him. He, and all of the other nations except for the nations within the Soviet Bloc, went into hiding, using their accumulated wealth to keep a low profile and constructing false identities, changing them every so often.

Alfred and the rest of the nations continued on as best they could, holding unofficial meetings and discussing current events and politics. Alfred had several jobs in the next 65 years, although he never stayed long enough for anyone to notice he never aged out of his early 20s.

System Life

Alfred has taken an active interest in politics and has opened up to more progressive ideas. He had a period of four years or so where he did not front or come near the front due to Trump's presidency.

He has lost much of his patriotic zeal but still believes he can do better and influence the world in a positive, compassionate way from within the Collective.
